About Nick Drakides

While growing up in the Hudson Valley, NY, Nick was fortunate enough to be exposed to jazz from an early age, when his mother took him to see Stan Kenton at The Hyde Park Playhouse.  His jazz education continued through his adolescent years with his father, at places like The Village Vanguard, Sweet Basil's and Carnegie Hall, which included numerous performances by such greats as Dexter Gordon, Art Blakey, Count Basie and Frank Sinatra.

In 1983, Nick enrolled in the Berklee College of Music, where he broadened his musical knowledge and understanding of many genres. While at Berklee, he had connected with other musicians who would have an enormous impact on his career later in life.

Upon graduation, Nick moved to New York City to pursue his passion for music, where he has been performing and recording with a variety of talented musicians and producers. He has performed at numerous venues including The Four Seasons Restaurant, The Plaza, The Pierre, The Waldorf Astoria in New York, The 21 Club, The Friar's Club and other venues across the US and Europe, which resulted in him being featured on CBS television's "Public Eye with Bryant Gumbel", "The American Life" on National Public Radio, as well as a guest appearance with The Chieftains at Carnegie Hall.  He also performed with Milton Berle and Bea Arthur at Town Hall.
